On Monday, 11 November, Mercury will transit the Sun for the first time since 2016. The transit or passage of a planet across the face of the Sun is a relatively rare occurrence. Observe the event through solar filtered telescopes and bring your lunch.
We shall meet on Hanover Green (NOT the Hub!) in Regent’s Park from 11:00 in the morning in time to observe through specialised solar telescopes the disc of Mercury pass across the face of the Sun. The transit starts at 12:35, continuing as the Sun sets at 4:15.
Hanover Green is to the left of the park entrance at Hanover Gate, opposite the mosque.
